Cloud Box Technologies to help Western International run its brownfield SAP S4 HANA Project

Cloud Box and Western International

Leading IT Infrastructure player, Cloud Box Technologies has successfully implemented a sturdy hardware layer to run the upgraded SAP ERP system of Western International Group. The integration will help in tackling business performance and process requirements while also supporting massive business growth.

The UAE headquartered business conglomerate, Western International owns and manages several well-known brands including GEEPAS, Nesto, Royalford and many others. With over 12500 employees, the last few years have seen rapid growth for the company. It now needed to re-evaluate their IT strategy to provide every department with technical support to achieve higher efficiencies.

Cloud Box Technologies was onboarded to offer a solution which follows strict SAP guidelines and a SAP hardware certified vendor. The company has over 900 SAP users within the organization and 6 TB RAM SAP S4 HANA High Availability cluster in an environment of high-end machines.

Cloud Box hence provided high availability SAP S/4HANA appliances PowerEdge R840 to run the SAP database. It also provided a PowerEdge MX7000 kinetic infrastructure to run the company’s applications in a fully virtualized environment. This was made possible with a single vendor approach in which Dell is one of the most viable vendors.

“We are extremely proud to be a part of the region’s largest brownfield migration project while conversion of SAP ECC to S4 HANA 1909 system,” said Yoonus Changoth, SAP Technical Manager, Western International. “The full cycle migration was possible with the tremendous support we received from our technology partners SAP and Cloud Box Technologies. They understand our need for real time data visibility which would help our procurement processes, cash flow, purchase capacity, customer behavior patterns, etc. The seamless data collection and analysis made it possible for us to make intelligent and proactive decisions that has helped us grow our business.”

“One of the most crucial aspects of Western International’s retail business is the reporting structure which helps them plan, prepare and work on their short and long term goals. Our understanding of their need for thousands of reports to be populated to several departments was paramount in their current IT goals. We are also certain that the Dell equipment provided fits well to their technology requirements,” said Avinash Gujje, Practice Head – Infrastructure, Cloud Box Technologies.

Interestingly, the project was implemented in a record eight months, during the COVID-19 lockdown period. Given the size of the data involved in this implementation and the 1480 customizations, this is really commendable. The Dell solution provided also helped Western International to make a transition to an IT virtualized platform. Western International has previously worked with Cloud Box Technologies on an IT Backup project and was extremely satisfied with the solution and support.
